Engine is surging at Highway Speed. I was told that the Rotella oil I am running could be the cause. Because the injectors are hydraulically controlled. Is this true? I am changing the oil tonight to the MOtorcraft Oil to see if this is the cause. What do you all think.
I don't think it is the Rotella. I would check oil level. There are a bunch of previous posts on oil levels and oil changes. Your oil should be inbetween the min and max markings.
The 6.0 doesn't have a divider between the crancase oil and the crank. Too high an oil level will create foaming.
Originally posted by PSD6litre40 you mean a windage tray? And, yes I know about the foaming. But, still that doesnt make much sense.
Yes a windage tray, if the oil foams it causes a loss in function of the injectors. Foaming oil will not allow the injectors to operate properly. It can result in surging……IMO
Many run the Rot-T witout incident... including me...
and if mine where foaming I would think it would REALLY foam when the +100HP predator kicks in....
I had a ford rep tell me that not to use delo or rotella because it does not have foaming characteristics and that I should use Motocraft oil. I guess that is the right thing to hear from a ford rep right? So why would he recommend a oil with foaming characteristics if you guys are say no? I looked at both oils and all have proper rating for this motor and see no problems with the delo or rotella. Think he may be full of it.
