Slippage....

hi everybody...
i'm having trouble with my 95 xlt.

it seems like something is slipping under hard acceleration.

it is a manual, and i have no idea about this stuff. it feels like a momentary lost of acceleration. only when i give it lots of gas.

does a manual tranny even have fluid? and if so, could i just need a flush and fill?

or does it sound like i need a new tranny? clutch?
any help is greatly appreciated.

95 xlt 4x4
99k miles
manual.

please help, so i know where to turn.

Hi and welcome to FTE. Sounds like clutch is worn out, take it to a trans shop and they usually test drive for free. Also shop around with pricing and make sure the job is complete. I would recommend, NEW CLUTCH ASSEMBLY( ONLY), New Slave cylinder, machine flywheel and pilot bearing if needed. Consider the warranty for each shop. Short warranty, not the place to do business. so, does this not sound like a tranmission thing to you?
a new clutch is much cheaper right?

would a transmission shop do a clutch? (like i said...i have no idea about this stuff)

Yes, Trans shops do driveline repairs and /or replacements. As for the ASAP thing, slippage will only get worse, but if you drive easy, it could last a good while. Good luck.
