400 compression

Does anyone have any comments/thoughts about using '71 model year pistons (400) in a '79 block? Sounds like a stupid question, but I've ran into this before...I'm rebuilding a 400 out of my '79 Bronco, and I want to increase compression without milling the head (too expensive) and I can't find aftermarket pistons for this motor..I know that the '79 factory is 8.4:1, the '71 is 9.1:1, which is close to where I want it...
Thanks

There shouldn't be a problem with using the '71 pistons. Try the search function and look up pistons. There have been many posts describing people building up 400's by modifying the 351C piston. Good luck.

Are you talking about NOS 71 pistons?

Aftermarket pistons are available, there are several posts here recently re Badger pistons. One is right here on the first page.
