Well this is the first ford i have ever owned and i have my first major problem. Took it on a 150 round trip on the intestate got home and found out i was pouring tranny fluid. Put it in the garage tore it down put the seal in went to bed. Woke up next morning and put everything back together except drive shafts. Couldn't turn the flywheel to bolt all the bolts on just had the 1 in so my idea was to put the starter on and bump the engine to the next stud. (this is the problem ) Motor wouldn't turn would just click so i figured something was in a bind so i loosned a few bellhousing bolts and it would crank so i put everything back together and jumped it off it started and ran for less than a second and a squeal then i shut it off . Any help would be appreciated i can be reached on MSN Yahoo ICQ or AOL if you got any ideas as to what i did wrong.
It sounds like you didn't get the torque converter all the way seated. There should be three distinct "clunks" as you seat it. The third clunk is the hardest, and can be a PITA to achieve.
If you forced the tranny to bolt up in this condition, you may have done major damage to the front pump in the transmission.
yeah i got only 2 seamed like it was seated and my "help" said it was seated but i was still unsure guess next time i go with my gut instinct of wait let somebody else do it i spent 6 bucks for a seal and now gonna have to pay near 600 to fix what i messed up
well got my truck back today to the tune of 581 bucks he said the pump wasn't bad but he replaced it anyways. Also got my oil report back from blackstone today
