DuraSpark ignition

OK. I have my motor running. I previously talked about my '86 having been converted to a carb from EFI. I looked into putting it back to EFI and it was going to be too expensive. The I was told to try a duraspark igntion because it did not rely on any sensors to work properly where as the current EEC-IV system on my Bronco requires the sensors to shift and advance the timing properly. So I found a duraspark ignition module and distributor. I hooked it, but it was not getting any spark from the coil. I had the igntion module checks and it checked out fine. My question is this.... If the pickup coil in the distributor was bad would it keep the coil from sparking?

OK. I understand the wiring diagram. i was able to find some good connectors for the distributor to the ignition module, but I think I may have the red wire in the wrong spot. In the diagram it shows a connection before the ballast resistor. Where exactly is that? I currently have the red wire hooked up to a hot wire just before the coil. Does it need to be before the ballast?
