I have a "96" 2 door Sport with a broken door handle.
I have a used replacement part and I removed the door panel and the rivets holding the handle. Now I have no idea how to disconnect it from the connecting rod. Access is very limited (I can hardly even see it). Has anyone out there ever done this that can give me some direction? I have made this type of repair to chevy and volvo and didn't expect the Explorer to be such a challenge.
One bolt holds the window channel (which is in your way). You need to remove the channel and then see that the rod connector is easily disconnected by unsnapping the plastic flap. Just recently did the same to my Exp front door...
