I've never been a "valley pan" guy, haven't used them in rebuilds since 1982

When I replaced my stock manifold with a Stealth, I threw the valley pan away. I used good Fel-Pro gaskets instead. I didnt use the gaskets on the front and rear, I was told to use silicone. It worked good, no leaks. But, anyways, you dont need the valley pan. Its your call.

It is for keeping hot oil off of the bottom of the intake. I always use the valley pan gaskets.

They don't include a part if it's not needed. Use your (collective) heads. Why do you think the original manifold had a baffle under the manifold? Why do you think they include a turkey pan in gasket sets?

It keeps hot oil off the bottom of the manifold, where it will crystallize, form sludge, fall off as hard hunks, and clog up your oiling system.

geez Louise.......

Sounds as if somebody has been picken' their teeth with your dipstick!!....actually it's the way the factory designed it - with the twists you see in the metal, it allows it to follow some VERY curvy dipstick tubes....(the tube I use from an Econoline van is very long and curvy..!!)

If it were straight, it would "bind up" a lot more often when you stick it in the tube...
