I just picked up my 250 about 1400 miles ago and seem to be getting a vibration from the rear end under hard acceleration. It only lasts a few seconds but it is noticable. This is my first 250 s/d I traded in a 150 so I am not familiar with a real trucks characteristics. Is this a normal condition because of the power or does it sound like something is wrong. When I say hard acc. I mean foot to the floor. I havn't had to do this often but found myself with no other choice, this is how I felt it the first time.Any info is much appreciated. One more thing. What about oil? Ford synthetic blend or penzoil conventional, these are the only 5-20w's available here in N.Y.
i have a 2001 f-350 with a v-10 4x4 cc.i also get the vibration from the rearend under hard acceleration.my dealer said it was the limeted slip in the rear axle and it was normal.good luck
Perhaps this vibration is from the rear tires burning on the pavement. My mother swore that her '99 V10 squeeked around corners. I rode in it with her and pointed out that it was the rear tires breaking loose from the pavement. The V10 loves to burn rubber.
I think he is right, the stock tires don't make any noise when they break loose. You might be feeling rear end hop.
As for MPG, I usually get 8-11 depending on what I'm pulling and how my lead foot is doing.
