spark plug blow out

i'm considering buying a 2001 F150 v6, (59k) and i see several posts /comments about blown plugs. This concerns me. does anyone know if Ford fixed this and if so what year model and also what years/engines were the "worst"??? Wife has a g. marquis w/4.6 and no problems at 81k. was this a factory issue, or mainly a problem if you replace the plugs and don't get them torqued correctly? thanks!! .....paul...

It isn't a problem on the 4.2 V6 engines. Just a select few of the V8's. It does happen, but it isn't real common. For all of the problems that you read here, there are millions out there with no problems.

thanks...it must be that the 4.2 is lower comp. ratio because there all aluminum heads-right? anything else you might recomend to look for [specific problem areas w/these models] such as auto tranny shifting, oil leaks etc. thanks again...paul
