Being an amateur regarding diesel power I'm wondering what the relationship is with the turbo psi. My 2001 F250 has a turbo boost gauge which max's out at 15 lbs. I have installed the superchips 60 hp in the PCM but that didn't change the psi and I've also installed a 4 inch exhaust. My question is, will more psi increase the power? And if so, what mods would I need? I've read about the Tymer air filter which appears to increase power to some degree and I'm considering installing one. I pull a fifth-wheel trailer with my truck and so the more power the better. Please advise.
The turbo psi is how many lbs of turbo boost is being forced into the engine. the more boost the more power. some of the chips will only increase the fuel and change the timing of the fuel, thus not changing boost to gain HP. Usually SuperChip does the fuel timing and increases boost pressure.
It's a 15 psi gauge, or 15 is as high as you can get? You should be getting 16-18 stock, and with a 60 hp tuner you should see at least 20 psi with the hammer down.
Check all the intercooler clamps, and the intake clamps. You have a boost leak, or the gauge isn't working right.
