there's 2 pins you need to knock out on the ends of the calipers with a punch&hammer then the caliper should pull up. use a big c-clamp or big pliers to squeeze the caliper piston back in. put anti-sieze or brake lube on the pins before reinstalling them. have fun!!

ok well i finnaly did it w/ the help of someones webpage. all i had to do was unscrew 2 bolts on the back of the caliper and it pops right off. nothin about pins or prying or anything. i dont even see where you can move the pins, they dont even look like pins! anyway i bought the midgrade pads cause i thought the economy ones might be crap. weel turned out that the midgrade ones were painted and the paint was soo thick that the pad didnt fit on the friggin thing cause it was too long by a hair. i hadda hit the grinder on that one. theeen i put the silicone on the wrong side of 1 set of pads and had to strip it off with ppaint thinner. ahhh what a stressful day. so i took it out for a test drive and they work great, doesnt squeak or anything however it does pull to the right significantly when i do brake. is that because i put the silicone on the inside of the pad? will this eventually go away????

When you go to squeeze the caliper pistons back in, remove the top from from the brake master cylinder. It just aint gonna go if you don't.

Oops,we posted at the same time,I didn't know you would be done with the job. The pound out pins 77red250 talked about must have been replaced on the later years my 88 F150 4X4 has the pound out pins, or maybe they're only on the 4X4s. Was it the left or right side you put the silcone on the inside of the pads?

you actually dont need to remove the master cyl. cover it dosent make a speck of diffrence, seeing how my cover seems to be vented, i just did my brakes tonight and i have a calliper press, use that instead of a c-clamp but my master cyl got over full and squirted out of a vent hole. who would have thought that the pads were so worn that when new ones are on, the mc is overfull?

i have no idea which trucks have caliper pins and which have bolts. in my experience pins have been more common.. just remove whatever holds it in and make sure it doesn't stick when your done. hyperpunk did you look at the rear brakes?? it's always a good idea to clean& adjust them when you do the front. most pulls come from the back. .

Later models have bolt on calipers instead of the wedge or pins.

yea the bolts are nicer haha. anyway umm the pull didnt start till i changed the pads in the front which leaves me to believe that its not the rear drums. like i said before i put the silicon on the inside by accident on one set of pads. i did wipe it off and rubbed some paint thinner with acetone on it to remove the silicon (guy from autozone said use an acetone based product if i didnt have brake cleaner). so yea i was hoping that this is what causes the pull (the one side doesnt grip as much as the other). then it will just go away! its been 2 days and not much change so i'll give it a week or so.

My truck has the pins on it and I don't see how it could get any easier

Somethings doesn't sound right when you say it pulls...
It never pulled before you did the brake job?
