460 into 70 highboy problem

460 into 70 highboy problem
I just got done dropping my 460 into the engine bay and I have all of my bell to block bolts snugged up and ready to go...my problem is this; when i depress my clutch to make sure everything is in sync it just goes to the floor and stay there...i think that the pushrod for the throwout fork is not long enough to engage the pressure plate fingers. Am i right? If so will just have to make the pushrod longer correct? Any input will be appreciated.
..just cuz it bolts up doesn't mean it is the proper one...........just a thought.....
