Bean counters

I like my truck but I have to ask...
What bean counter thought it was a good idea to NOT paint the drive shaft, steering knuckles and other parts under the truck? My truck is 8 months old and while changing the oil I looked around at these rusty parts and thought how cheap is that, I mean how much money would it have cost to protect these with a coat of black paint? Guess I'll have to do it myself.
Another gripe is cut-off wires hanging out of the wire harness like the those above the brake master cylinder and under the dash. Why not attach a connector to the wires and sell matching connectors for accessory upgrades instead of leaving cut-off wires hanging around, It makes a brand new truck look like a used truck with electrical equipment ripped out before the sale.

I wonder how much money Ford's accountants saved the company by deleting this stuff. Maybe enough to pay their own salary...naw, I doubt that.

I agree, unfortunately its all about production. To me its the little things that count, for $30k you would think these things would not be overlooked.

It's all about the dollar. They don't make these trucks just for s . . . s & grins you know. If it cost Ford $1 to paint each driveshaft and they make 1,000,000 combined F-Series per year . . . . . . . .

Multiply this with all the little things you find missing the next model year, like a $1.50 glove box light, and it adds up to a healthy year-end bonus for the boys in Dearborn.
