Looks like I need to get a pro-link style code reader for my 88 F150 as I need something to show me whats going on when my stutter/surge happens at higher rpm's and under heavy throttle. When I feel the stutter I usually hear some spark knock too. I need to haul heavy loads in my truck this spring and I won't be able to the way the truck is running now. I tested my MAP and Oxygen sensors, they both appear to be in spec. There is no stored codes coming up.
I've done a complete tune-up and checked my timing, its at 10 degrees. Any other idea's?
Can anyone recommend a particular brand of code reader thats the best bang for the buck? I have one now that just flashes out the codes. I've had my feed of the stuttering problem and if I can't find it, the EFI is going bye bye in favour of a Holley 4bbl.
