I've seen only one alternator between a '96 t-bird 4.6L, '97 Cougar 4.6L and my '01 v10.
It's the 130 amp alternator... it's identical across all three of my modulars. All the original window stickers listed the "130 amp" alt.
Not sure about upgrades, but I thought it was possible to get dual alternators with the diesel?
Funny, the saleman goes "Oh, and it has the 130 amp alternator too!" - should have seen his face when I said "Yeah, both my '96 t-bird and '97 Cougar have a 130 too!"
Of course, it's 130 amps, but not at idle, more like 2000RPM (engine RPM) or more.
Again, not sure about later years, but I was sure they were pretty much all the same?
Yea, I think your right again krewat. I'll check on that 170amp guess, I think I have the paper with the option packages in the glove box and I know I have the plow package and I thought I read that. I will let you guy's know when I find out, not sure since I bought it used.
