I have a 2000, F150, 4X4, Super-Cab with power door locks. When I travel cross-country I sometimes take my cats. When the weather is cool enough I will leave the cats in the truck when I stop to eat or at a rest area. Unfortunately the cats are curious and like to climb around. More than once they have stepped on the switch and unlocked the doors. Is there any way to easily and temporarily disable the Lock/Unlock buttons on the door armrests?
I know that there is a way to stop them from locking when you get moving, but I don't think you can disable them from manually or in this case catsually being pushed. Unless you make something to go over them temporarily.
Maybe glue a little spike ontop of the unlock button.... just kiddin..
Hey Racerguy, does removing the #8 fuse stop those locks from locking when the truck starts moving, or does it disable them? I would really like to stop them from locking when the truck starts moving. And while we are on a roll, how about a way to stop the supremely annoying chime when you don't put the seat belt on during the first two seconds you are driving. Just another few reasons why I really like my '93.
THere is a procedure to enable/disable autolocks printed right in your owners manual. If the problem with the cats is a rare situation you can simply pull up the drivers lock switch plate and unplug the switch.. that will disable both switches, or pull the fuse like Racerguy mentioned. I always found that seatbelt alarm NEVER goes off if you simply.... BUCKLE UP..
Say, thanks for the info men. And I do wear my seatbelt when I am driving on the road. As a framing contractor I spend a large part of my time driving off the road on jobsites and it is a pain to buckle up when I am crawling along a jobsite at something less than light speed. I read that owners' manual pretty well when I bought this truck but I will have at it again to see if I missed something. Thanks again.
