starting problem
I have a 2001 7.3 f250 super duty crew cab. It has a loping start on cold/early morning starts. Ford says normal on diesel, but my 96 did not do that-what do I look for?

mine did the same thing, i had it in to the dealer 3 times, once they replaced the glow plug controller, the other two times they said every thing was fine, but the truck still did it.( i have said it before and i will say it again), i switched to 5-40 synthetic oil and it hasn't done that since.

Has anybody tried Castrol SuperX SAE 40 straight weight oil........ its highly recommended for diesel engines on the label if you live in tropical climates........ temperature here never dips below 50 F.... Ive used it and had no problems.......
Seems like when I switched to Shell Rotella 15-40 I developed the same problem with hard morning starts.

Switched to Royal Purple(15w40)-never gets cold enough in South Texas for lighter weight. Starts are already easier. Will monitor progress/also planning a exhaust upgrade. Have not decided if a chip is necessary for this unit-waiting to monitor towing performance in comparison with my previous 96 unit.
