I had a wiring harness repaired after only 419 miles. The truck had to be towed in. Subsequently the truck has died on me 5 times. I did return to the dealer after the second incident. (It would restart.) They had it for three days and found nothing. They tried to tell me I had bad fuel. It's still dying in traffic. I'm going to go back one more time. They won't find anything. I guess we'll have to wait for a service bulletin. It's pretty annoying, not to mention dangerous. Keep us posted if you get a solution.

SSM 17445
2003-2004 SUPER DUTY F-SERIES/EXCURSION 6.0L - DRIVEABILITY - WIRING HARNESS CHAFING
SOME 2003-2004 SUPER DUTY F-SERIES AND EXCURSIONS EQUIPPED WITH A 6.0L DIESEL ENGINE MAY EXHIBIT A CRANK NO START, RUNS ROUGH, ENGINE MISSES, BUCKS/JERKS OR LACKS POWER CONDITION. THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE FUEL INJECTOR CONTROL MODULE (FICM) WIRE HARNESS CHAFING ON THE UPPER LEFT VALVE COVER STUD NEAR THE FICM. OTHER POSSIBLE SOURCES OF WIRE CHAFING ARE THE IDLER pulley UNDER THE THERMOSTAT (WIRING ROUTED AROUND POWER STEERING PUMP), LEFT FRONT VALVE COVER HOLD DOWN BOLTS/STUDS, exhaust BACK PRESSURE SENSOR BRACKET AT THERMOSTAT HOUSING, RIGHT VALVE COVER AT GLOW PLUG CONTROL MODULE, AP/ETC PEDAL WIRES AT STEERING COLUMN (ADJUSTABLE PEDAL APPLICATIONS ONLY), UNDER FICM AT VALVE COVER EDGE AND PCM HARNESS AT battery.BOX. REROUTE WIRING AND/OR INSTALL VACUUM CAPS ON STUDS CONTACTING HARNESS. REPAIR WIRING AS NECESSARY.

My build date is 11/03. They just replaced the two wire harness not the motor, and it has been working great. It was the tech at the dealer that made the call to replace the harness.

Hi Tim
Yes I put the Banks 4" monster cat back system with 5" tip, lights are real bright but a real pain to install.
