99 Brake Pads

I need to replace the front brake pads on my 99 expy and was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on which pads to use. I did a search and read where several people are using the raybetos pads and some are using ceramic pads. I'm not planning on replacing the rotors if they are in good shape, just the pads. It seems like I read somewhere that some pads generate more heat and this could damage the rotors. Can I use asbestos or ceramic pads with the stock rotors? I believe the original pads are semi-metallic and Ford will let me have a set for $116. For this much money, I'm thinking I could get better aftermarket pads.

Anyway, any suggestions on good pads?

Thanks,
Philip

Get a set from local parts house, but don't go for the low end brand. Perfect Friction, Raybesto's, Bendix are just a few, get some advise from the counter person. Also consider replacing the rotors or atleast machining the old ones, it really helps with pad break-in and not having to do the job again in a few months. Good luck.
