Well as with the old age of the 2003 i have noticed quite a bit of rattle coming from the dash.
It's just to the right of the driver and what seems like to the left of the radio, but it's down in there..... and it needs to be fixed!
it's driving me nuts. I just wish it would go away, but it won't for very long, it always comes back.
I was just wandering if anybody knew possibly what was common for rattles and how i could fix it without tearing the whole dash out?!?
took lower dash apart, siliconed fastners etc...in desparation cut 2x4 and shoved under dash up from trans hump, this supports weight of dash and works-no more rattle.
There are two dash braces attached to the floor and the dash. Make sure those bolts and nuts are all tight. The screws under the lower trim panel sometimes are loose as well. Cigarette lighters often are loose and rattle. There are at least 100 fasteners on the dash, any one of them can be loose. Wiring loom retainers can rattle too. Many many possible sources.
I finally lost it this weekend and sunday afternoon tore my dash apart. Carefully checking all fasteners for the little cushion tape, all accounted for, all dash screws near and around the cd player are tight, checked install kit for cd player, all good, i gave up at that, never found it.
I was out of light and energy to tear into it any further. but i noticed it has been quieter since than, maybe it's just my driving. I dunno, just turn the radio up louder i guess.
