Could be the solenoid on the fender. (cheap, easy) Otherwise maybe the starter switch is out of adjustment or bad. Maybe the wiring from switch to solenoid. It does run after you start it by crossing the solenoid, right?
it runs fine after crossing the solinoid but otherwise useless to try with the key.
I'm thinking either the solinoid on the fender is bad or the wirirng to the starter is bad, if the starter switch was bad wouldn't it not start at all even if i crossed the solinoid?
Welcome to FTE. Is the click from the starter relay and do you hear this every time you are in start position. If so, sounds like a bad starter solenoid. Let us know and good luck.
