I am interested in up gradeing my 1967 F100, 390, edelbrock top end, cooling system by adding an aluminum radiator and an electric cooling fan set up. any body got some sugestions?

I live in eastern NC. it gets realy hot in the summer and I sit in traffick when going to work and back home. temp 98 to 100 deg. and a lot of humidity.

Use the Al radiator but keep the factory fan and shroud.
You may be able to use a fan clutch in this app. but I'm not sure.

I'm running an electric fan. I'm running the felx-a-lite Black Magic. On paper, it's not supposed to be enough for my engine. It inlcudes it's own good sealing shroud. It appears to be working well in my truck. We'll have to see how it does this summer with the AC blowing.

They do make a dual fan setup for 27" radiators, that is probably the best choice. It does cost about twice what the Black Magic costs and I didn't see it when I was looking the first time.

BTW, I'm running 360 RWHP. Probably more like upper 400s at the crank. So, if it keeps up with mine, it hould keep with most FE motors.

I like the elctric becasue it can spin at full speed regardless of engine speed. So, when I'm stuck on the ineterate in deadlock traffic on a hot Texas summer day with the AC blowing, my fan is spinning at full speed.

fordaholic- wearabouts?
I lived in the Clayton/Smithfield area for a couple of years.
Had a 69 f100 w/390 C6 combo, ran a 180 stat and shroud, and a new stock radiator. No probs with overheating and I drove into downtown Raliegh everyday for work.

thanks gtex. I was told by ratsmoker that you were both running the same fan system. good to know it works in the heat of the south. like you I am wondering how it will work with the xtra load of the A/C system going. please let me know. I am in the process of an off body restoration at this time and am gathering information for things to put on when it goes back together this fall.

ACESN8S. I live in Havelock NC and drive to Morehead City every day. DA BEACH! BUBBA.

Cobraf100. HOOOAH! I just passed my 20 year mark. got home from Iraq in SEP 04 and on the same weekend my wife was activated. she is NC guard. 30 HSB. she will be there for a year. ARMY life can be realy hard at times. but I got the truck to work on and it's always ready when I am.

thanks for all the input from all of you.
