I am in the process of referb a 76 F150.
Just finished upgrading the 390 - new intake and 4 Bar carb.
Looks clean under the hood. Now I want to do something with the stock exhaust system. Headers, what type? and why or just replace the dual exhaust system. With What. kind of mufflers.
All advise is welcome.

I have a great time with my L&L headers dumped into 2 1/2" dual pipes pumping through Thrush mufflers. You can hear the set up at <<http://www.mistynewbeak.com/truck/truck.html>> - click the "Harrison speaks" link....I admit it's hard to hold a conversation with the wife at speeds of 75+ miles per hour. Other than that, it's a manageable rumble...

id go with some longtubes from either headman cheap but worth it. or BBK some other cheap headers. Get some 2-1/2 or 3 " exhuast into some 2-1/2 or 3" flows dumped infornt of the axles. it will have a nice rumble to it, if thats what u want.
On my '73 2wd 390 I've had Dynomax cermaic coated long tube headers ($225 in Jegs) for almost a year and I'm happy with them so far. At the same time I had 2 1/2" duals w/glasspacks installed. I really like the setup. Only trouble is the header has to be loosened for the starter removal...
