2004 Quality Issues - Anyone else?
I have had three quality issues with the truck that I am curious if anyone else has experienced
1) The lower radiator hose clamp was cracked at the factory, and broke at 1,500 miles spewing fluid all over the ground. The dealer told me that this is pretty common because Ford is pre-gluing the clamp onto the hose and then shoving the whole thing onto the radiator already tightened!!
2) The transmission started dripping from the passenger side bypass tube when the truck is running. The dealer told me that this is pretty common, just a loose connection from the factory.
3) Up on the roof, there is a weld joint in one of the valleys that has some sort of putty in it, which was painted over at the factory, but later separated from the joint and is now hanging like a small flap from the weld joint. I can plainly see primer underneath of the separation. The dealer told me not to worry about it, and to bring it back if it started to rust.
Anyone else seen these kind of issues? Is there anything else in the way of quality issues that I should be looking out for in the future? I plan to run this truck as a daily driver for a couple of years and I don't want to be surprised on the open road.
Thanks and I appreciate all of the tips you other owners have posted in the forum. They have helped me out tremendously.
The lower radiator hose clamp is somewhat of a common problem. Hopefully they have replaced it with a new clamp.
Keep an eye on the transmission & fluid level. Loose connections aren't common, but I'm sure they do happen.
Take the truck back in immediately to have the roof repaired. The putty seals the roof cap seam weld. If it wasn't needed, Ford wouldn't install it.
