Has anybody done any research on factory and/or aftermarket extended warranty programs? I have a 01 F250 SC 4x4 V10 and its pushing 25,000 miles. I love the truck and haven't had any problems, but I'm fearful what might happen. I've read in past posts of members having serious problems soon after the factory warranty runs out (3yr-36k). Again I think that Ford builds an awsome truck, but it wouldn't hurt to have some added insurance.
I bought a factory Ford extended warranty at the time of purchase for my 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII. The standard Linclon warranty was 4yrs/50,000 miles. At 56,000 miles, the trans blew. It would have cost me around $5,000 but it was covered under the extended warranty. In that case it it paid to have the warranty. However, I have had other Ford vehicles with over 165K miles and not a problem. I have a 2000 F250SD,SC,V10,Lariat and I am not thinking of getting the extended warranty for added insurance. I feel the truck will be fine. Remember the Ford Superduties are great reliable trucks. Don't get the impression from this or other message boards that the truck has problems. These message boards are great places for people to get advice with their problems. There are over a million superduties on the road, thus these message boards represent only a small pecentage of owners.
