if fords are like chevys, they have a little tin cover over them, and overtime carbon will literally plug them up, so no air gets in there, showing no reading. I change mine about every 80k, never had a problem. You only have to worry about the upstream ones, before the cat(s), because the upstream judges your fuel mixture, and the downstream ones are just there for a reason i do not know. As for higherhorse power, i think they could purposly read lower making the engine run a little richer, i think thats about all they could do. I just replace mine with stock, my high-tech butt-o-meter notice a difference when i replaced mine.
