How much HP do you think....
...You'd get out of a 351 (reliably)
I have been thinking...Nascar motors (351) put out about 850HP, and run at 8-9k RPM's for up to 4 hours steady.
What would you do to make a Bronco's 351 produce 500HP or so reliably??

Beef up the lower end. Get some AFR heads, high flow gt-40 or similar, cam and a supercharger.

I have a 1.5L Kenne-Bell on mine and hope one day to get my 5.8 in the high 400 to 500 mark.
a lot of old Lightning are up there.

I don't know all the specific parts you would need, Hot Rod Magazine had an article a couple months ago about Ford's new "super-engine" for the $150,000 GT40 which was a supercharged 5.4L (~330ci) which was supposed to make 500hp. (We won't mention that the pushrod LS1 in the new Corvette Z06 is making 405HP, naturally aspirated, with barely 16 more cubic inches for a MSRP of $52K) I think HRM also had another article on the "Fast-Forward Fastback Mustang" and claimed to squeeze out 500 HP from a 351 (again with a blower) I don't guess there is anything inherently wrong with a 351, but the theme of the day does seem to be forced induction at a power level of 500 hp.
