I just purchased the truck in my sig (89000 miles) and cannot believe how much power these beasts have. One thing though, a friend owns a 2001 F-350 and mine is actually higher and more level. I have read that the 350 has 4" blocks in the rear, whereas the 250 has 2" blocks. Well mine has the 4" blocks and what appears to be a longer shackle mount on the rear of the front spring. Center of hub to wheel-well is 28" rear, 26.75" front. What if anything does this mean? Also is there a way for me to tell if other mods have been done just by looking. I know it has stock exhaust and nothing obvious under the hood. I am speaking to chips and such. I am planning on removing the muffler this weekend and doing the 10K mod as well. Do I need to go slowly with the modding or is the above listed changes ok. By the way this thing is getting 19 mpg right now and I am scared to do but so much. Oh and while I am writing, GREAT SITE.......
Up until 2001 all superduties had the 4" block. The shackles are unchanged for either model, it sounds as though someone has installed a leveling kit on yours.
Thanks cookie88 for the info. I absolutley love this truck now and hope these mods make it even better. Is there a certain order you would "normally" go as far as modding. I know everyone has their opinion, I just want some feedback......
Actually you will find that most people have the same (or similar) opinion on the order of upgrades.
1. Gauges. A pyrometer as a bare minimum. Boost and tranny temp are the usual set found in the A-pillar gauge pod.
2. Exhaust. Now that you can monitor your exhaust gas temp, you can start doing something about controlling them.
3. Intake. See #2.
4. Power adder. Chips, propane, NO2, etc. (these are the reason for the first three steps)
5. The little stuff. There are literally tons of neat little mods that make your truck look, act, drive, run, or ride better. Just read the forums and ask your questions, we'll be around with the hook up.
6. Bought and built everything there is. Now the fun begins. Huge flowing injectors, monster turbo's, twin turbos, water injection, massive oil pumps. The ultra high performance aftermarket is just getting started for the PSD's. Stay tuned.
