I just bought a 2001 Ex Limited with V10 with 32,000miles. I pull an 8000lb camper, and wanted to get some advice on performance. I'm wanting to optimize the performance without going overboard. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate any advice....
I have a '01 EX with V10 and a Banks Stinger system installed. The kit consists of a cat-back exhaust and a air intake/filter. Banks claims 35 hp and 42 lb/ft improvment at the rear wheels. While I can't say I got that much more power, it really made a difference. I tow a ~8500lb travel trailer and after I installed the Stinger system, I could really tell a difference in "off the line" and midrange power.
Hey Rob, my biggest question outside of performance did your fuel mileage increase? I have talked with many people and they say the towing is great the performance is great but they don't know how to calculate fuel economy correctly. Did you notice any thing improved after all the dollars spent to have more power?

That's a bit of an over statement. Most say just an intake does nothing but make your intake louder. I concur. However, coupled with other mods the gains, although minimal, can usually be felt.
Not too many performance mods increase MPG. Best bet is to drive conservative & keep your tire properly inflated.
My statement was the coupling, he had asked about the chip and then the air.........deductions was the two in combination………was where he would end up. It was a big improvement for me, at 6k altitude, pulling 8770.
It was well worth it.
