Power Point==How much amps???

I have a 92 F250 XLT, it has a powerpoint conection on the dash, next to the ashtray! Anybody out there have an idea as to what the Maximum Amps this outlet will handle before something melts???

Usually, they are wired with a 20 Amp fuse. Take a look and see what your fuse is rated at. In newer vehicles, with a dedicated power point, they wired for a bit more current than they did the older style, "power points," that are next to the ash tray,(cig. lighters..

)

What are you planning to hook up to it?

I plan on hooking it up to a 2 meter radio, on hi power it uses about 10 watts, did'nt want to burn anything down!

Your 2 meter rig will run fine off that point, but it might be better to run a new fused wire from your battery, if you find you have any engine noise on Rx/Tx...
