M.A.S.S Flow sensor
Its me again... My 97 F150 has 87000 on it and I am changing out the plugs and wires, I have read alot about the m.a.s.s air sensor and am wondering if I can clean it or should it be replaced...... If it is cleanable.... HOW do I do it..... Thanks again this is the best site on the planet for FORD questions......ed

Open your air filter housing up and look into the part that is connected to the 90* elbow. In there you will see (2) 1/4" hair like wires. I use CRC Contact cleaner on mine but others have claimed to use brake cleaner spray.Anyway,spray those hair like wires,not too close tho because they can break, let them dry and you're done.If you want to get to them a little better,disassemble the MAF sensor from the housing.Some use Q-tips and cleaner when they get to that stage,but as I said before be very careful not to break the wires! While you're in there,clean the IAT sensor just upstream from the MAF sensor. Good luck and keep us posted!
