Oil pressure?

My new 390 runs 50psi at idle and 75psi around 3000rpm. Is this normal or do I need a lighter oil. I am running 20-50 (That is what my machinist told me to run) now. I have the Milinton high -volume pump. I haven't had it out on the road yet just b roke it in.

That is a little high at idle(what rpm does it idle at?) but not excessive IMO anyway. I think 10w-40 would be sufficient, unless your machinist ran higher clearances than .0025 on the main and rod bearings.

I would run lighter oil for sure. I might even go with 5W30 or 0W40. Is this at full operating temp? Mine runs about 80psi cold at idle and works its way down to 15 or so.

My 390 does about 35 or so on Idle with it @ operating temp. It has 20w50 in it, but im putting 10w40 in it next oil change, then going with royal purple synthetic.
