tow package

I am wondering how I would know if I have a tow package on my half ton?
And since I am actually posting, and I know some people have this info to hand:
I have a 302 in my 87 F150 extended cab long box 4x4 with 3.55 rearend, and it's a 3 speed automatic C6. no mods on it I know of cept the engine has been rebuilt top to bottom 5000 km and one and a half years ago. (3106.94 miles)
Could someone please tell me my towing capacity if I had a towing package, and also if I didn't?
Also how much could I haul in the box.

On a side note, if there is anyone from Canada on here that would know where I could find a shop manual for my truck, I would surely appreciate it.

Daniel

I had the same questions when I bought my 1988 F150 recently, and phoned Ford Canada, Customer Service. By giving them my VIN number (on the dash, driver side), they looked up that vehicle, and wrote me a letter back, which described the truck--engine, transmission, rear axle ratio, tow package, step bumper hitch, towing capacity and whether the 3 recalls on my truck had been done (they had).
I found this information very useful. Otherwise, folks here can help with tow capacity. I would guess yours at between 5,000 and 6,000 lbs, based on the information you provided, compared with mine--same truck, except mine is a 4 x 2, and has the AOD automatic transmission. My capacity is about 6200 lbs, but usually the 4 x 4 is slightly less, because of the extra weight.
Hope that helps.
Frank.

Thank you for the info, it is much appreciated. I shall give ford canada a call tomorrow and see if they can help me. A guy never thinks to phone them about such an old truck
