LED Lights

Has anyone cracked the code and found LED lights that fit under the stock tail light lenses on out old Fords? There was an article in Classic Trucks a while back describing this setup for a Chevy. I currently use a 1257 in the original position and an extra LED bulb below that in a socket I added. I was thinking about stacking three of the LEDs behind the lense. This morning I saw a truck with LED tailights that looked like they could be slipped under the lenses on our Slicks. I like the idea of brighter lights that don't fry the lenses or need that rusted old reflector to shine. I'm open for suggestions.

I tried an LED bulb that fits in the 1157 socket (and under the lens) and found that it was not bright enough to use with the stock lens in place. The bulb produced red light. A "clear" bulb might have worked better but was not available. You can probably find the bulbs at a store that sells replacement tail lights for import cars.

My approach was a little different I shaped 1/4 aluminum plate the same as a rear tail lightlens, then machined the center out to fit the oval led lights, found on some big rigs. While not stock it does work really well and looks cool also. Eric
