Another toploader question
I have searched and found many different answers on tthis question, could someone give me the right answer? How do I identify a top loader? Does the shifter go into the top, yes, no, or can be both? The tranni in the junkyard I am looking at is in an older truck, earlier 70s I believe. It is behind an FE engine. If it is a toploader is this the bigger pilotshaft that I want to go behind a 460 after finding the right bellhousing and stuff?

i believe you can identify a top loader when the shifter bolts to the top of the transmissions. ie. the m50d and the zf truck transmissions are all top loaders. hope this helps. i'm not sure about your pilot shaft question though
