new v-10 install

I have a 99 sd v-10 with 58,000 miles. I have heard about the tsb from ford about piston slap. Am I a candidate for a new engine?

My 2001 Super Duty with the 5.4 has piston slap only 2300 miles on the truck. Ford is finally putting in a new motor after about a month of giving me the run around.

I thought this problem had been corrected on the 2000 and up Super Duties?

More than likely your not. Most TSB repairs are for vehicles under the original factory 3/36 warranty. You may find a dealer that will do it but don't count on it. The dealers may offer a deal where you pay for part of the install. If you have a Ford extended warranty then maybe they will do it. Best of luck to you.

I have a 2000 E450 chassie on a motor home with the V-10 6.7 and have heard a loud clicking noise when i first start it, it will click untill the engine warms up, is this what everyone is calling piston slap? I have only got 3.500 miles on it and hate to think I need a new engine. thanks for any information on this subject. Blaine
