A-pillar gauges obstruct view?

I am having a hard time deciding between the A-pillar pod or the "under the cubby" pod. I really like the look of the A-pillar, but I am concerned that they may obstruct my view. I normally don't like anything on the dash, visors down etc. But, I also see how convenient and safe they are to look at while driving.

The under cubby pod is certainly out of the way, still looks good, but is harder to view while driving.

Any comments in favor or against either set-up? Anybody regret getting either one? I want to add these very soon, your input will really help me out. Thanks!

Get the "A" pillar unless you're a rubber necker.

Get the under the cubby for less important gauges, everybody needs at least six anyway.

I have the "A" Pillar mount and wouldn't have them anywhere else. They don't obstruct my view at all, and are much easier to read with a simple glance. More than once I've caught my EGT needle in the red, if the guages were not on my pillar I would have never known and probably caused some serious damage.

ramtruckman said it well. When I first put my gauges on the A pillar, they seemed to obstruct my view, but after having them for a short while, it becomes second nature by having them there. I wouldn't want my gauges telling me that there's something that needs my attention, and have them in an out-of-the-way place.

BluesMan,

As Cookie has mentioned before, there is no cure for PSD mod fever. Very serious $$$$$.

I refer to my grandma's advice, ......$ feed the fever $.
(and drink plenty of liquids)

Definitely do the a-pillar. They are worth the little bit they obstruct your view to have your gauges in easy line of site without having to look away from the road - especially if you are pulling hard and are running close. Much safer than having to look down under the dash somewhere. And HeatStroked is right - everyone should have at least 6 gauges!!

Thanks guys! Looks like the A-pillar gets everyone's vote, it does make sense. I probably will get used to them after a short time. I am between the Autometer Z-Series (for a more stock look) and the Isspro EV gauges.

Dieselsite.com is selling a preassembled, painted, A-Pillar pod with 3 Autometer gauges for $398. May give them a try?

Thanks again for the comments!

Bluesman,

Check mine out in my gallery. At least it is another option. These were on my truck when I bought it, but if I had my choice, I would probablyy choose the pillar mount. May still if I add any more guages. I would still likea a "real" mechanical oil pressure guage, an engine oil temp guage and a better volt guage.

TJC.

Mount the real mechanical gauge, oil temp and volt gauge in the under cubby mount.

Completes your 6 gauge package.
