It's been a while since I have been here. Unfortunately, my x has turned into a lemon. Having spent over 30 days in service within the past year I have elected to trade for an 04 x with the 2nd generation 6.0 diesal. Anyone have any suggestions on trading a lemon and not getting screwed? So far the only Ford contact I have had is with my local Dealer who has admitted that my service problems exceed the norm. Mostly issues with the 03, 6.0 diesal which I love but keeps leaking fluids, runs erratic, failed MAP sensor, severe vibration at 2,200 rpm's. Don't want a freebie but feel like should get some compensation from Ford on trading to a new 04 X.
Keep on with dealer, and be sure to tell them that you want to speak with someone at Ford (dealer rep for sales or service). Be very direct but try not make any body get mad. From my experience working at a Ford dealership you will eventually get what you want. The squeeky wheel get greased, so to speak. I have seen Ford buy back vehicles that have been a problem. Talk with your salesman also, he may be able to get a name or number of someone to call.
Contact ford customer service and tell them what you want they treat 6.0 customers right becouse you spend alot of money with ford and are very loyal and ford knows that. Their number is in your owners manual, call them and be polite and you will get helped.
Have you considered having ford buy it back? No use paying for more than you have too.
And 2nd.. Why would you consider getting another 6.0 after all thats went wrong with this one? Im not a true believer that the newest version is totally fixed as reading on here, theres quite a few with the 04 built after 11 03 that are still having alot of similar problems. I Love this engine, from what i have been around one, and would love to have a new EX with the 6.0 But it still seems way problematic at this time..
