Any of you own one or have oned one i am looking at a 1970 cougar with a 351 in it. Are these good cars. I would also like to know if I should just get a torino or somthing like that because of say aftermarket products and stuff like that. I hope i worded this right.:P
I've been around 67-70 cougars for 15 years.
I also have a few friends that still own them.
The options and ride are better in the 70 than the others are.
Tons of comfort and great handling.
The 70 Torino is a skirt stopper of a car.
It breathes Muscle.
The 351 will tote it along Okay.It handles a little more sluggish coming out of the corners and the weight distribution isn't as good as it could be.
The one I drove didn't have a beefy suspension.
Where I live I see more Cougars than Torinos. Very few Torinos in fact. Maybe the Torinos might have more collector appeal, I don't know. I use to have a '70' Torino so maybe I'm biased but I like the look of the Torino better. But I've seen some nice Cougars too. Like Dennis said, you can't go wrong with either one.
I’ve got a ’70 Cougar with a 351C 4V and it’s plenty fast, who needs aftermarket? I think they are fine cars and the styling is better than the Torino unless you liked Starsky & Hutch.
thanks for the replys i am going to be test driving the Cougar Xr7 sunday and the torino I drove today i like it had some nice get up and go but needs a little more work done to it then the cougar. lets just hope i can get the rest of the cash soon.
