Help - No Headlights
Hope someone can help, have a stock 56-F-100-12V - Generator, etc. while replacing fan & Gen Belt, accidentally touched voltage regulator creating a spark for half a second. It blew the fuse I have on battery side of regulator. I took off fuse and reattached battery wire straight onto regulator as stock, but now I have no headlights. Parking lights work, amp guage shows generator now charging (it wasn't until I removed burned fuse) dash battery light not on, no headlights, what did I do?
Thank you,
Just trying to keep this stocker going.
I've owned some old cars that had a fuse on the headlight light switch itself. I don't know if your 56 switch came with such a fuse or not. It might be worth checking. Maybe someone else with a stock 56 switch can chime in here. It is also possible that you could have cooked a wire coming off the headlight switch..I'm not sure.
Vern's right, my 55 fairlane has a small fuse on the very end of the light switch. That would account for all your problems. If you don't have one there, then you need to get out your voltage checker and see if and where you have power. Good luck and come back and finish the thread with your solution. This will assist the rest of us out here that may end up with the same problem someday. John
