Does anyone know where to buy a good aftermarket DVD Screen that will fit into the Headrests of the 04 Supercrew that may be compatible with the factory DVD system?
BMWhitesel, I just had some Alpine 5.8" inch headrest monitors put into the factory headrests... looks great! Installed a PS2 as the dvd player and gaming system with RF remotes so no cords. I am going to try to get picks put out here this weekend.
Hey BMWhitesel - just put pics in my gallery of the headrest monitors I put in... Alpine 5.8" - I love them and they fit perfect in the factory headrests...
Love the monitors.... What was the cost of the installation for the monitors and how did you find a good installer? I don't some hack cutting into the back of my headrests. Also, do you have the PS2 system mouted anywhere or do you strap down on the center console?
Saw a magazine ad for audiovox yesterday. They have a new "All in Headrest" DVD player. Think I'll look at it on their website. Could solve the problem of the player not fitting on the rail system.
Install cost me $430 for the monitors, fm modulator, 150 watt power inverter and PS2..... Total cost with installation was roughly $1600 (a bargain compared to the $1400 Ford wanted for their overhead monitor. I had it done at Ultimate Electronics and had seen their work before and talked to the installers. I would ask any installer (not the sales guy) how many they have installed - they are getting to be more common place so hopefully any higher end place would have installers that have done them before.
The PS2 is mounted underneath the back seat and is removable if I need to take it out... however when the seat is down it is locked solid. Let me know if you wanna see pics of the ps2 install and I can post some.

The monitors do look very clean . . . I myself would love to see a shot of the ps2 setup.

Cool idea - I went the the PS2 for gaming puposes as well as dvd functionality - I can also remove my ps2 from my truck and bring it in the house and use it as well so it has dual purpose. But for those looking for a very clean dvd system looks like you couldn't beat this.
Yesterday I paid for my DVD system. I called ford and asked how much the DVD player was for the overhead rail system and they said $2200.00! So I called around and looked on the internet for different options. I found my best deal at Best Buy. I am going to have (2) 10.4" flip down monitors installed and (2) DVD players installed. One in the console and one under the seat so you can either watch one movie on two screens or watch a movie on one and a different movie or play PS2 on the other. Total cost $2200.00, beats the hell out of (1) 7" flip down screen for the same cost. Also we bought a 15" flip down screen for my wifes 04' Eddie Bauer Expedition. I think it will be pretty sweet. I will try to post some pictures after they are installed on the 16th - 18th of June!
Hello to everyone I just came across this site & have been doing a lot of reading. Some really good stuff . As for aftermarket stuff I can get a huge selection @ wholesale prices / if interested let me know & I'll send you some prices. The headrest screens I have right now are made by Power Acoustic & are really nice. I have a few others to choose from also. I have both the indash DVD players & mounted players. If you are in the area I have a professional installer that works w/ me CHEAP. I don't usually put this out like this but I'd be more than happy to help you all out saving some $$$ since the markup is incredible on this stuff.
Again its nice to find somewhere to chat / read about " OUR " new truck.
