Q for the fishman

Jason, a couple of questions for you since we have similar trucks in different eras. Did you have to lengthen your drivelines for your lift? My rear driveling is 2 parts, a short shave from the T-case, about 2 feet long and then a long one angled down to the axle. I'm wondering if I'll have to extend it and, if so, do I just scrap the short portion and go to a single, long drive shaft?

Also, do you have a crossmember under your t-case/tranny and did it interfere with your front driveshaft angle? Mine doesn't look like I'll have much room to work with so I'm tring to find out if I have to fab my own cross member.

Thanks man, I'm getting impatient and plan to buy tires soon!
Ivan

YO.....no I did not mess with my d/s's at all. Actually since I threw the D60 up front it made the front d/s stretch a lot less otherwise i might of had to lengthen it.

My np208 is a POS and i am working on a deal for a np205 and when i put it in i will have to lengthen my front d/s and shortne my rear one. I thought about going with a 1 piece rear d/s but it helps with clearnace so much that unless i start snapping them left and right I am gonna stick with the 2 piece! I'll also do my own d/s lengthen/shortne b/c the front one does not matter if the balance is off and as long as you cut perfectly straight the rear one will be easy to balance at home as well!

the crossmemeber that my t-case is sitting on is in the way and quite a bit esp with the lift so I had to cut out a good notch to get it to clear. I haven't had any problems so far but when i get my 205 in there hopefully I will be able to get rid of it! If I was you....I would look into just flipping it over! I thought about it and it would work on mine with a lil trimming but it wasn't worth it since I have had the np205 in the recent plans!

hope i answered some of your questions! let me know....i got class till 10:00 tonight so I won't be back on till after that!

Thanks Jason. I wanted to go with High Angle but they're a lot of $$ so I'm not going to worry about replacing them until I have an engine with enough torque to break my ds. I'll have to see about building my own crossmember with a piece sectioned out for the frond ds. It didn't look like enough room to clear it and it's the only thing supporting my transmission so I'll fab one.

ivan...if you look in my gallery you see i had a mint condition 79 supercab. i did soem axle swaps and lifted it back in hs. it had a cv up front like my 79 does now. with 6 inches of lift it was near maxed out, but just fine and cleared the crossmember fine. it had the auto tranny like yours also. you rear will be fine too, dont go with the 1 peice cuz it will ruin your breakover angle. If you put lower gears in your axles...youl be surprised how much your stock d-shafts will hold up to

best way to doit is lift it how you want, then step back and take a look at everything and see what needs to be done

liek you said, dont worry about highangle big d-line stuff unless you start breakin stuff sumwhat regularly
