On my 2003 Expy the door ajar light stayed on, so after slamming every door in sight I had enough and drive it my dealer.
Turns out the interior light switches are now micro switches and they can only be checked by a scanner plus you have to take the doors apart to replace them oh yea its 2 hour job.
Also they wont pay for the front pad update they, Ford, just offer them and they highly recommend doing the rears to match the fronts. They are a higher metallic pad so I declined that work.
But I wouldn't trade my Expy for anything period. They drive so sure footed and strong like nothing else I've ever in a SUV driven.
On a side note I have a Chevy Colorado 4 door for a loaner and lets just say I'll stay with Ford products.
This is a very common problem with Fords!! The easiest fix is to spray the door latch mechanism (in the door) with WD-40, and open & close the door a few times. This will usually free up the switches.....
