Reverse Gear Reliability in Auto Tranny
Read an interesting tidbit in the recent issue of Trailer Life. A guy wrote in about the failure of reverse gear on his '99 F250SD. He has to back is 5th wheel 180' up a 22% grade. Reverse gear failed. Ford Fixed but said it won't be covered again because it exceeds the limits for reverse. Apparently you can only reverse up an 8% grade.
This is a problem for me, except I don't have a load. I have to back up a 15% grade for about 50'
Any comments?
Sometime playing stupid helps. Dishonest? Well, maybe... but remeber who you are dealing with. Manufacturers will do anything to get out of fixing something under warranty.
Also, is there anything in the warranty that explicitly states that? I would bet if they could legally get out of fixing it because the warranty does not cover this steep of a grade in reverse with a full moon on Tuesday, they wouldn't have fixed it the first time.
