my passenger door switch will no lock or unlock the doors but i can still unlock them with the drivers side switch. is this just a bad switch. what do i need to replace? also my drivers side lock makes a loud buzzing noise when i press lock. what is this? thanks for the help.
Does the pass. door have any play in it? I fixed this problem by adjusting the striker bolt so the door closed tight and pushing half a can of WD40 into the latch and lock mechanism.
The buzzing noise sounds like the door lock actuator is going out. As for the pass switch not working, it could be something as simple as a broken wire. Mine was the opposite of your...drivers wouldnt work at all and the passenger side would only unlock...and only if you pushed it to the lock position. I replaced the switches and still nothing. So i started tracing the wires with a meter and a wiring schematic...found a broken wire in the rubber boot that goes from the door to the fender on the drivers side. If you need a diagram post back and I will post a link to where you can view it and print it up.
oh yeah about the lock actuator. i have owned the truck for over 2 years and it has made the noise since i got the truck. if it was the actuator wouldnt it have stopped working if it was going out. i was just wondering. thanks for the help
Not really. I have a window motot that has been working at half speed for 4 yrs now. And the holes have already been drilled for me too. It has been replaced before. But it still works.
