Distributer search
I'm in the process of fitting a 5.0L from a 93 Mustang in my 1981 F-100 Stepside. The truck came stock with a 300 CID 6 cylinder so I have had to hunt for parts. Right now I am having trouble finding a distributer that will work. The stock FI distributer looks simalar to a vacuum advance distributer I pulled from an older engine EXECEPT the shaft below the drive gear is longer on the newer distributer. I know this runs the oil pump but how much of a difference does the longer shaft make? Can I run the distributer with the shorter shaft or can someone suggest an acceptable replacement that won't cost an arm and a leg?
