Hello Everyone. I just purchased a '98 F-150. I had to fix a few things and when searching for them, all points led to FTE. FTE has been excellent for having solutions.
My question is. My truck does not have power locks/windows. I would like to install power locks and have keyless entry w/ alarm.
A. Is this possible?
B. If possible, should the truck already be wired for it under the dash?
and C. In general talk, how much am I looking to spend on this?
I don't think you would have any of the wiring for the power locks.
It would probably be easier to get an aftermarket alarm and then add on the power lock accuators. Check with local car audio/alarm shops, I would guess about $150 for an entry level alarm and about $50 per door for power locks. Good luck, hope that helps.
I emailed these guys http://www.a1electric.com/mes.htm and they responded within a day. They told me they could send installation and wiring instructions for F150's along with the kit which would be compatible with the Ford trucks. The kit with remote entry is $100 and the kit with remote entry and alarm is $125. There are several installation pictures in different vehicles on the website.
Might be worth an email.
