im thinking of getting a tachometer from jcwhitney for 30 bucks it looks prettey good. anyway whrere did you guys get your tachometers from and for how much?
cdherman;
I just got out bid on a odometer reading .08ths of a mile for a 65/66 Custom cab long dash bezel (if you know what I mean) ; could you tell how you reset your odometer; I'll be better off going forward to all 0's due to currently at 98k+?
Well, I don't see how running a speedometer forward could be construed as illegal, so long as you do not mis-represent it to a buyer in the future. So here goes.
The speedo runs counterclockwise, looking into it from behind. Cut off a short end of old speedo cable (the inner piece), chuck it up in a drill, and run the drill in reverse. My makita gets up to about 60mgh. This by the way is a very good way to test that used speedo as well.
For longer distances, I would pull out my speedo cable, lube it (probably needed that anyhow), attach the speedo head end to the speedo, and carefully chuck up the gear on the tranny end into a large bench press. Securely fasten the cable with no bad angles. Put the drill press in reverse, and let her go.
You can calculate how many hours it will take to get the desired results. Only useful if you are already close.
I *think* this works in the other direction too, but it may damage the speedo, and besides, its not a good idea, legally speaking.
