Hi fellow ford lovers. I am going to have a 400 built for my bronco and am going to use the badger flat top pistons @.030 over. no real milling except to make things straight, appx what will the compression be?
I would also like thoughts on performance addons like cam, intake/carb and the like. She is going to be mostly stret driven with the weekends spent off road for camping and fishing....nothing to extreme. She will see alot of hwy miles daily 45 a day for work so i think i will keep the 32 inch tires and the 3.50 gears. Any input would be greatly appreciated as i dont want to do this twice and where better to get advice but from the guys who bleed ford blue.
Thanks and great site, Joe
Hey Joe, welcome aboard. Tell us more about the Bronco. What year/motor does it currently have. I am not proficient witht eh 400's so ber with me. What is the CR on these from the factory? The .030 really wont have much effect on performance, but dropping the flat tops in will. I feel ideal CR for a pump gas engine is the mid 9's, so keep that in mind when designing the internals. Call a tech support line and see what they recommend for you as far as the slugs go. Also check out the 351/400 series forum, there will probably be more specifics there.
