Gentelmen,
I have a '66. Came with a 74 model 2100 2v carb with manual choke. It ran a bit rough so I bought a rebuilt kit and went for it. After installation, upon starting, the engine races all out and won't throttle down. The float setting is at 17/64 and is not flooding or leaking fuel. Any suggestions on what might be wrong? I am thinking maybe power valve gasket but was careful with intallation. What else could be allowing that much fuel into the venturies?
If the engines revving up out of control it's getting air from somewhere. Do a good visual on the butterfly's, gasket surfaces, any plugs that may be off.
A common problem on older carbs that doesn't get covered in a rebuild is a worn throttle shaft. Air can get in there and play hell with the idle circuits, but I never heard of one leaking enough to feed the motor.
i had a problem like that i got a carb that came off a crash car that wraped around a pole it was just rebuilt and they crashed the car it cause when i put it on my car it ran full trottle and didnt go down we looked at the carb afterwards and found that the rebuilt carb had the butterflies in backwards and couldent close
